RICHMOND, Va., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Forest City Enterprises'
(NYSE: FCEA) (NYSE: FCEB) employees will spend a work day cleaning and
repairing the facilities of the Virginia Home for Boys. The Richmond-based
employees are joining nearly 1,000 Forest City associates across the United
States in the company's first nationwide volunteer day.
On September 10, 2004, Forest City associates in 22 cities will volunteer
in the communities they serve, lending a helping hand to local non-profit
groups and agencies. To demonstrate its commitment to community involvement
and betterment, Forest City created Community Day, an initiative where all
employees are given the opportunity to volunteer their time and skills to
local organizations. Projects include painting at schools and children's
agencies, delivering meals to the elderly and cleaning up beaches and

At the Virginia Home for Boys, 8716 W. Broad Street, Forest City's
Richmond employees will clean and reseal the floors of the main dining hall as
well as provide maintenance to the landscape areas, paint a garden structure
and repair the roof of a storage shed damaged by a fallen tree. The Home,
which accepts boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 17, focuses on at-risk
youths from all racial and religious backgrounds. Children live in family-
style living environments with professionally trained teaching-parents who
focus on each child's individual needs. The goal is to build confidence and
develop character within the youths to help them acquire the skills needed to
become productive, civic-minded, responsible adults.
